A Little Something Tahitian

Well it has been awhile since my last post and on this rainy day I got thinking about Hula, so I thought I would share a video. This is my dance group "The Island Dancers" performing about a year ago. When most people think of Hawaiian dancing they think grass skirt, when really the grass skirt is worn for Tahitian dancing. Tahitian dancing is generally a lot faster then Hawaiian dancing and a lot of it is done to drums and chants. The song we are dancing to in this video is called "Patia" which mainly consists of Drums. The implements we use in this song are called ii iis (pronounced ee-ees)Which kind of look like cheerleader pom poms.

Enjoy!
